Interview With Bodybuilder Shavis Higa

CRITICAL BENCH: Shavis introduce yourself to Critical Bench.

My name is Shavis Higa. I'm from Honolulu, Hawaii and I train at the Power House Gym. I'm Married to my beautiful wife May and I am a proud parent of my Precious two year old daughter. My full time job is an electrician and I am in the Hawaii Air National Guard as a telecomm specialist. Visit my web site at shavishiga.com

CRITICAL BENCH: Shavis, what has been your favorite moment so far during your bodybuilding career?

When I got my Sponsorship with Gaspari Nutrition.

CRITICAL BENCH: What moment has changed you the most and why?

Winning a third USA title. I'm dreaming of bigger accomplishments and 100% isn't good enough. From now, it's no less than 110%.

CRITICAL BENCH: What gym do you train at and what is it like?

I train at Power House Gym in Honolulu, Hawaii. The gym is packed with the latest in fitness equipment. When you train there, you can train every muscle at different angles. The cardio machines are state of the art. The gym is complete with many other services.

CRITICAL BENCH: Tell us about your diet and what are your favorite supplements?

This year I'm going to try and eat the same foods, just more of it in the bulking phase. I don't like using the term offseason because this phase of the season determines how big you will end up for the next show.

My favorite supplements: Anything by Gaspari Nutrition. My favorite stack - Plasmajet and 2 scoops Superpump250 before I hit the gym. 1 scoop Sizeon during my workout. 2 scoops Intrapro with simple carbs immediately after my workout.

CRITICAL BENCH: Give us your workout routine.

  • Day 1 - Chest, Shoulders, Triceps

  • Day 2 - Back, Bicep

  • Day 3 - Hamstring, calves

  • Day 4 - Rest

  • Day 5 - Same as day1

  • Day 6 - Same as day 2

  • Day 7 - Quads, Hams, and calves

CRITICAL BENCH: What have been the 5 high lights of your bodybuilding career?

  1. Entering my first bodybuilding show in 1996.

  2. Going to the Mr. Olympia.

  3. Winning overall at the 2007 LA Championships.

  4. Sponsorship with GASPARI NUTRITION.

  5. Winning a third USA title.

CRITICAL BENCH: What are your future goals?

To win the USA as a middle weight an get a pro card. Be a house hold name in the pro bodybuilding scene.

CRITICAL BENCH: What do you enjoy doing away from bodybuilding?

Anything I can do with the family.

CRITICAL BENCH: What is your favorite exercise and what is your least favorite?

Interview With Bodybuilder Shavis Higa Hammer Strength incline press is one of my favorites. I hate doing ab exercises.

CRITICAL BENCH: What is the best advice you were ever told and what was the worst?

Best advice: Gain as much knowledge as you can and use what's best for you. There is no worst advice because what might not be right for me, might be the secret to someone else's success.

CRITICAL BENCH: What has been the best compliment anyone has ever given you towards your physique?

You have the best physique in the sport.

CRITICAL BENCH: What motivates you to be the best you can be?

My passion for the sport, my fans and supporters keep me motivated.

CRITICAL BENCH: What is your advice for the younger bodybuilder who looks up to you?

Take your time, don't rush anything and be consistent.

CRITICAL BENCH: What is your favorite thing about yourself?

None, they are all flaws that I am constantly trying to improve on.

CRITICAL BENCH: How do you want to be remembered?

Not for my quads but for my heart.

CRITICAL BENCH: Shavis, you are a very interesting and hardcore bodybuilder. It has been great talking to you today.In closing who would you like to thank?
