Ryan Kennelly Road To The Arnold DVD Review by Steve Buccilli
Since the spoken word was used to pass down the historic events of the human race, men of strength and power were both envied and admired. Be it Samson and his ability to destroy armies, or the mythical lore of Hercules and his twelve impressive feats, or perhaps it was the real recorded history of Ethan Allen and his fellow Green Mountain boys, they inspired countless of us.
In the history of the Iron Sports we have men like Sandow, and Grimek, Reeves and Casey, Anderson, and Hatfield, Arcidi and Mendellson. Now we have Kennelly. Yes that right Ryan Kennelly can add his name to those prestigious athletes.
Need proof? Get "Road to the Arnold" a dvd profiling Ryan Kennelly's personal journey to his bench press feats. The video has outstanding production qualities, which are due to the team over at "The House of Pain." The dvd starts out with a huge time bomb counting down to detonation. This is Kennelly's analogy for counting down to the Arnold. The first 2 or 3 minutes is a music video of Ryan and his team working out. The lighting and camera angles make for spectacular drama and effect. The first real chapter of the video we witness Kennelly working out. I won't go through the entire video so let me write up some highlights.
Kennelly benches raw until he gets to about 600lbs in his workout, and the footage will get your heart pumping! Some interesting feats of strengths you will witness, 400lbs benches for 20 reps, 585 for an easy very explosive 3! 805lbs board presses (with a shirt) for 3-5 reps. The man is impressive. His physique is very impressive too. No fat, portly super heavy here. Nope just big round hard muscle! Kennelly takes us to various meets and we see him open with 835, and bench 903! Not to mention the various warm ups which would classify themselves has as world records for anyone else. The Mendellson classic is pretty awesome to watch as well.
Some entertaining bits about the dvd include a few scenes like Ryan making a large post workout shake, or listening to him retell a conversation with a doctor who questions why he does what he does. Not to mention a strange scene in which he paints his finger nails black, and gets his eyes done up with mascara and liner. (I am not brave enough to challenge that one, hey the guy can do whatever he needs to do to lift half a ton!) This is an awesome powerlifting video and a wonderful insight into one of its leading champions!
I began this review with describing legends. Kennelly will ultimately go down in history as another legend, but we all know he aint done yet!
